Aw, we’re getting to explore Ken’s body image issues; one of many issues we don’t discuss enough.
Also, what is a “coat hanger body type”? I have not heard that term before and wasn’t able go find a definition on the Internet. I guess I should look harder?
A “coathanger body” is a term I used to hear a lot. It means your clothes hang on your body the way they’d hang on a coathanger. I don’t understand how anyone thinks it’s a good thing, but I’ve got my own issues.
I remember hearing “coathanger body” years ago too. And I also don’t see how it could be considered a compliment. I think it comes from the “ideal” runway model body–upon which clothes hang as they do on a coathanger.
When I was in college, I had the perfect hourglass shape. And I wanted a coat hanger body like the one boys at the clubs had, so that I could wear striped shirts like I was in a band from Manchester.
Everyone has their issues, I suppose. Now Miss Eaves is my jam.

I love it – it reminds me of an earlier plot between Finn and Charlie! I’m curious where you’ll take this, since it does seem like Ken would benefit from chatting with Charlie about this.
On some level it still seems a bit OOC to me with Ken, but it’s been part of his characterization for a while now so I guess it’s canon!
Tony, I just read your new book today. What a beautiful piece about the elliptical, unexpected nature of grief. And what a gift to others who are going or might be going through that experience. Thanks, it’s lovely.
