“Friendsgiving”
My husband and I have been hosting Thanksgiving for most of the past 22 years, mostly for friends (though my mother often comes, and last year, unusually, was mostly family). So I’ve never though the term “friendsgiving” was necessary… but I accept that other people like it.
I am somewhat entertained by the supposed meaning of the word that people would start swapping friends like presents at a friendsgiving party. :p
“Ok, Jim is generous and always on time, he knows 10 languages and tells the best jokes in them! Hope you like him!”
“Uhm, sorry I didn’t prepare much, but Fatima here cooks unbelievably delicious food, and she’s also a mean bassist!”
Oh. Nice. I’ve been doing a Thanksgiving of Friends for the past 23 years. It’s evolved over the years to include family, but I always have it the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
