A little explanation related to this: the FDA regulations on gay sperm donors specifically refer to anonymous donors, and not directed donors (which is what Finn is, here); also, if I understand correctly, it’s technically not an actual ban on anonymous gay donors, but a recommendation that gay anonymous donors not be accepted. But it is true that different sperm banks will have different policies; and some might not accept a gay donor of any kind, while others might accept all donors whose blood test results are clean. So some doctors will in fact recommend that you not mention it.
